Palazzo d′Albis (Piazza Civica)
This is a remarkable example of the XVI century Catalan-Aragonese architecture with bifores and monofores. In October 1541 it offered hospitality to the Emperor Carlo V with his "masnade". Popular tradition reports (although there’s no historical record or verification) that in that occasion the monarch of the Sacred Roman Empire defined the town "Bonita, por mi fè, y bien assentada". According to the legend, the sovereign greeted the townsfolk from the balcony window with the words "Estode todos caballeros".
Palazzo Machin (Via Principe Umberto) Built during the first half of the XVII century by Ambrogio Machin, bishop of Alghero, for his family. Still intact in its original design, one can admire the beautiful Renaissance portal and the Gothic-Catalan windows. |

The Roman Bridge Although this bridge dates back to Medieval times, it is commonly known as the Roman Bridge. Various additions and improvements made to the bridge dates back to 1200. At the moment it is only half of its original length which boasted 24 arches, built over the Calik pond.
